Abolished the reduced VAT rates!

Remove the reduced rates applicable to the islands! That is the mandate given by the "troika" in the Greek government apparently is a matter of years to materialize, leading to the destruction of the island economies and will exacerbate existing problems.

The elimination of reduced VAT rates as a measure actually included in the medium term financial framework 2012-2014, which was discussed yesterday in the cabinet. Decisions are not taken, but it is clear that the rulers are moving in the direction indicated by the troika.

It is assumed however that there will be dialogue, as announced by Finance Minister Mr. Y. Papakonstantinou, but the result is known.

Is known and the consequences will be, as the island economies will turn back decades, and the consequences will be devastating.

Only if there is strong and universal reaction and if the representatives of the site rise to the circumstances, it might prevent the elimination of reduced VAT rates.
